WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

One of the important thing to consider is the wardrobe for you and your family for your lifestyle Perth photography session.

What you wear to your session will again be the difference between beautiful, timeless images and images that you won't love after a few years have passed.

Obviously your session style and location will come in to play so please consider the colour tones of your location "backdrop" first, then plan a colour scheme to dress everyone.

I ask that you don't match everyone, but rather think about complimentary tones of similar colours that combine well.

You also need to avoid any logos, brand labels, or graphics. These are distracting and don’t age well.

Stick to plains or repetitive patterns. Layers and textures are also beautiful.

As my style is light, neutral and airy, I recommend these tones as they are easy colours to style with.

I encourage you to include us in your wardrobe planning, send your ideas and suggestions, and I will suggest how to co-ordinate.

For maternity sessions, I generally encourage my clients to organise clothing that show off that bump, so either full flow maxi dresses, maxi skirts or stretchy dresses.

You will also receive a Preparation guide when you book, which you can refer to.

WHY CAN IT BE SO EXPENSIVE?

WHY CAN IT BE SO EXPENSIVE?

Quality, custom photography by a specially-trained portrait artist is not for everyone, and takes an enormous amount of time and creative commitment.

I am priced in order to continue the premium service I provide to my wonderful clients.

To put things in context, think about discount stores, department stores and boutiques and how each business model compares to the next. The first is based on moving large amounts of product at a heavily reduced price, relying on sheer quantity to generate profit, whilst the boutiques model is almost the exact opposite, offering service and quality that is reflected in the price.

Gracie and The Wren is a “boutique” style of photography studio with a fine art product and service that matches with this business model.

And as blunt as this might seem, I want educate my clients that my business model is designed around being able to offer my clients the best products and service,

but also to pay my household bills, put fuel in my car and keep up with my mortgage payments.

Thank you for understanding.

MY TURN AROUND TIME

MY TURN AROUND TIME

You left your session over the moon and exhausted - because let's face it -it is so tiring with little ones!
Many times I get asked if I do a sneak peak, which my answer is simply this - in order to hype up the excitement of your session - I want YOU to be the first person to see them. Therefore the only get posted online after the viewing appointment.

Believe me, this makes the experience so much more beautiful!
I will then post your images and blog within 2 weeks of your viewing session.
(unless of course you have advised me that you do not wish for this to be done)

I will then process, cull and edit your images -you can expect to receive your email that your gallery is ready with in 3 weeks of your session date. We will arrange an in person viewing appointment to look through your beautiful gallery where you can then decided what you would like to do with your images.

I encourage you to look through your investment guide and speak to your partner to make sure you are on the same page with financial decisions when it comes to your images.

HOW DOES ILLNESS AND WEATHER IMPACT MY SESSION?

how does illness and weather impact my session?

If you, your babies or I am sick (COVID), or have gastro, hand foot & mouth or  conjunctivitis or any other contagious bug - we have to postpone, this is not negotiable.

If it rains, we can reschedule, however many of my families just go with it - and end up having the best time in the rain! You simply swop your shoes for rani boots and we play in puddles or dance in the rain.

If it is insanely hot and we are at risk of during to a crisp or worse get sun stroke, we reschedule. I usually don’t like to make a final call on this until the day, so please stay in touch.

HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP MY IMAGES ON FILE?

HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP MY IMAGES ON FILE?

I advise and encourage you to download and keep your images backed up in three places - on your external hard drive, on the Cloud and Digital technology is not archival, and will eventually corrupt. If you know me I tend to hammer on about tangible items! this is THE only way you will always have your images - and who doesn't like to look through an album or book, filled with love and memories? I keep your files for 3-6 months after your viewing appointment, after that it will be archived and you will have to pay an additional fee of $250 to reactivate them.

WHEN TO BOOK YOUR NEWBORN PERTH PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

WHAT IF YOU'VE FORGOTTEN TO BOOK AND BABY HAS ALREADY BEEN BORN?

WHEN TO BOOK YOUR NEWBORN SESSION?

WHAT IF YOU'VE FORGOTTEN TO BOOK AND BABY HAS ALREADY BEEN BORN?

I recommend you book your newborn session whilst you are still pregnant. Note it down on your list when you are getting your hospital bag ready.

However, if it slipped your mind and your baby has already entered the world, contact me and let us see where I can fit you in.

Newborn babies photograph best between 6-11 days old. At this point they are still very sleepy and like to curl up as if they were still in the womb.

I take up to 3-4 hours for a newborn session and leave plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddles and breaks for mama and baby.

Come as soon as you feel ready.

I cannot wait to meet you and your little one!

Please have a look through my site and portfolio to get a good feel for my style.

When photographing babies older than 14 days

I ask that parents adjust their expectations as older babies will not curl up into those squishy positions and they will be more alert and awake.

I style the sessions with the wraps and props in studio, so please don't worry about the styling and outfits.

If you are bringing along siblings we generally do all siblings and family shots within the first part of the session (allow 30-45 minutes).

After sibling and parent shots, I recommend that you (dad or carer), have a little wander out of the studio. There are parks, cafe's and beaches all around us.

The session is 3+ hours. This is a long time and in my experience this advice makes for the least stressful way to spend the morning for all parties concerned.

Please note, as much as I love siblings and chatting, your baby is my number ONE priority, and the session will go according to baby's needs. As such, sometimes the session will go over the allocated time.

WHEN SHOULD I CALL TO SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?

WHEN SHOULD I CALL TO SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?

Before your baby is born! It is so important to plan ahead. I always advise to jot this down on your list when planning your hospital bag.

Capturing your newborn within the first two weeks of life while they are still sleepy and curled up, can make all the difference in your newborn portraits.

Since we never really know exactly when your little one will arrive,

I will put you on my calendar to hold a spot for you.

When your baby is born I will move your appointment accordingly. If your baby arrives early or if your baby is already born, don’t panic!

I will always do my best to squeeze newborns into my schedule. Older babies take beautiful portraits too and after all, this is what I specialise in.

WHAT SHOULD MY BABY WEAR?

WHAT SHOULD MY BABY WEAR?

Newborns photograph best without any clothes at all.

I also love to photograph newborns dressed in neutral coloured, organic, wraps, rompers and pants.

I love them swaddled in blankets with lots of texture and snuggled up tight in buckets and baskets.

In the studio I have a supply of newborn hats, bows and headbands that coordinate beautifully with the blankets and props that we will use to stylise your images.

You are welcome to bring any hats or blankets that you would like to have the baby photographed in.

I encourage our clients to bring special, personal items which make the session and images especially meaningful.

Family Lifestyle Sessions FAQ

WHAT DOES AN IN STUDIO PERTH LIFESTYLE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION LOOK LIKE? WHERE IS IT?

WHAT DOES A STUDIO SESSION LOOK LIKE? WHERE IS IT?

My little home studio offers a fun and relaxed environment, it is cosy and small, but a lovely place to be. Bonus - you van have a snooze as well as your morning coffee here too! My little studio is in my home located SOR not far from Fremantle & Cockburn Central,  all Studio sessions ie. Newborn, Sitter (Toddler's first year), some Maternity and mini sessions* (*unless otherwise advertised), are held.  All studio sessions are held weekday mornings as this is when the light is best in my studio and my babies are in daycare.

WHERE IS YOUR OUTDOOR SESSIONS?

WHERE IS YOUR OUTDOOR SESSIONS?

My outdoor sessions are so flexible and in terms of locations - as long as we get the light right, it can be just about anywhere!

Why is my session at Sunset? well like I mentioned before -its about the light, more specifically golden hour – which is the hour before sunset. Now being a mum, I totally understand that it can be challenging with when the sun sets later or really early in the winter, however this is not something I bend on, even being 15 minutes late to your session compromises the light quality and ultimately your image quality.

We work fast and have the most fun, if the session time interferes with dinner or bed time, there are plenty of ways to get around it - ie bring a picnic for afterwards, bring the jammies that you can put on them after the session. Take them out to dinner, make it a all in fun experience.

WHAT DOES AN IN HOME SESSION LOOK LIKE? WHERE IS IT?

WHAT DOES AN IN HOME SESSION LOOK LIKE? WHERE IS IT?

Your In home session is so much fun, All we need is a big window or two - think rooms with the best light through out the day. Generally I would suggest the master bedroom, living area & nursery. Many Clients love their kitchens too. In home sessions are very relaxed and i encourage you to have food activities, reading, playing, and dancing type of activities planned.

In terms of your home - All I ask clients to do to prepare is open all their curtains/blinds and remove any unnecessary clutter.
I don’t expect hospital clean.
All these sessions are also held during weekdays when my little ones are at daycare.
